For BMW G/S and ST models Anyone who occasionally rides their G/S or ST off-road is familiar with the problem: when riding through water and mud, water penetrates through the bleed screw of the rear axle gearbox, as the standard venting of the final drive does not effectively prevent the ingress of water. The sad result: the oil combines with the water to form a cloudy emulsion. The lubricating effect is reduced and the moisture encourages corrosion on the gears. For technical reasons, venting of the final drive housing is absolutely essential. With the EHL-G/S boxer base lifting kit, the vent opening is relocated under the seat. The set consists of high-quality, well-matched materials to industry standards. The standard oil filler and breather screw is replaced by a hollow drilled screw onto which a black anodized adapter is screwed, to which the hose is attached and routed under the seat bench. The new cap is only 6 millimeters higher than the standard vent. It can be fitted in two minutes; no special technical expertise is required. All components can be replaced by using standard parts. The hose is fastened using a screwed clamp connection without a dirt-prone spring catch. EHL-G/S has been successfully tried and tested for a long time. Similar designs have been used in BMW’s rally and off-road works machines. The oil in the final drive remains clean and clear for much longer and does not lose its lubricating effect. This not only reduces wear, but also saves oil, as it has to be changed less frequently.
